HOK-Elanto significantly reduces CO2 emissions
Customer
HOK-Elanto, the largest regional cooperative store of the S Group in Finland, is actively exploring new circular economy operating models and investing in sustainability in all its operations.
Background
In summer 2020, HOK-Elanto introduced Europress waste compactors equipped with SMART technology at all its locations. In just a few months, significant cost and environmental savings had been achieved.
Challenge
The cooperative wanted to improve its waste management, save working hours and reduce unnecessary transports – especially during peak seasons when waste accumulates quickly. It also needed tools to centrally monitor the operations of its waste management devices and respond rapidly to situations.
Solution
The SMART remote service automates emptying calls and uses artificial intelligence to predict fill levels. Devices are only emptied when they are full, which eliminates unnecessary transports. Seasonal variations are taken into account, and all data is available from a single system.
With SMART, device-specific monitoring, data comparisons and remote management are also easier than ever. Close collaboration with Europress experts ensures that the system is constantly developed according to the customer’s needs
